Breakup

When a relationship ends, you do not lose only a person. You also lose the life you imagined alongside them.

Book a first meeting

A breakup can come suddenly or after months of doubt. It may be your choice, the other person’s or both of yours. However it came about, it leaves a void behind: shared habits, plans, friends, the way you saw yourself through the other’s eyes.

Even without marriage or children, a relationship can take a central place in life. And its pain deserves to be taken seriously, not hurried along with advice such as “it’ll pass” or “you’ll find someone else”.

Areas of work

When it was not your choice

Being left means losing the person and, with them, part of the image you have of yourself. Unanswered questions arise, the last conversations replay in your mind, you search for who is to blame: the other person or yourself. Sometimes anger and longing come at the same time, and both need room.

When you were the one who left

The one who leaves suffers too, even if they are not allowed to say so. Guilt, doubt, longing for what was good, the fear that you made a mistake. Choosing to leave does not spare you the grief.

When you cannot let go

Messages read over and over, memories of happy moments that now feel like pain, reconciliations and breakups that keep repeating but resolve nothing. As long as hope and control keep the bond alive, the loss cannot be fully lived through. You cannot let go because, along with the other person, a part of you leaves too, a version of yourself that exists only alongside them. That is why the advice “forget them” does not help: a bond torn apart by force only tightens. Counselling helps you let the bond loosen at your own pace, without tearing away parts of yourself, but transforming them instead, and growing.

What you put into the other

In a relationship we put into the other person not only love, but also hopes, parts of ourselves, an image of who we might be. After a breakup, the void is left not only by the person, but by all of this too. Taking it back, slowly, is part of mourning. Grief and loss →

The same story, again

When breakups resemble one another, the question is no longer only what the other person did wrong. Sometimes we repeat, without knowing it, an older story, in the hope that this time it will end differently. Recognising it makes room for a different kind of love. Love and disappointment →

Afterwards

Loneliness, mutual friends, the places you avoid, the question of whether and when you will be able to love again. There is no right time limit for moving on. There is, however, a moment when the memory no longer hurts in the same way.

Who it is for

What my experience is made of

I am a clinical psychologist licensed in Romania and a psychoanalytic psychotherapist in training.

Loyalty, autonomy, love and desire were the themes of my bachelor’s thesis in psychology, “Loyalty and Autonomy in Adult Relationships”, and of my master’s dissertation in psychoanalysis, “Loyalty and Sexuality: Love with a Forbidden Aim”.

How it works

  1. Write to me using the form below or by email. A few lines are enough; there is no need to explain everything.
  2. I reply within 1–2 working days and we arrange the time of the first meeting together.
  3. The first meeting, 45 minutes long, at the practice or online, is devoted to understanding the situation. Only then do we decide together whether and how to continue.

The framework

Sessions last 45 minutes and take place at the practice or online. We set the pace together. Fee: 250 lei / session.
